I spent more than a decade as a television news producer. I loved the work — telling stories that mattered, keeping the community informed — but the stress was overwhelming. Like so many others, I burned out.

And I’m not alone. Across the country, there’s a nationwide shortage of producers. It’s not because people don’t care about journalism — it’s because the job is so intense and unsustainable. Producers juggle rundowns, scripts, graphics, and breaking news all at once. Something has to give.

That’s why I created AutoNewsProducer. 

It’s an AI-powered tool that takes the pressure off producers by handling the repetitive, time-consuming parts of the job. Instead of drowning in deadlines, producers get time back to do what really matters: digging into stories, fact-checking, reducing bias, and strengthening trust in the news.

This isn’t about replacing journalists — it’s about supporting them. About making the job sustainable again. About helping local newsrooms survive and thrive in a time when our democracy needs them most.
